Anglo-American differs from British English in many a ways. Prepare yourself for misconceptions and try to avoid them as much as possible. Depending on the region, spoken English is to novices not always entirely understandable. In states like, for instance: Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California a lot of Spanish (Americas second language) is spoken. Refrain from speaking any other language than English whilst in company of Americans. Even when communicating with other Dutch.
